This playbill announces the opening on April 16th, 1838, at the Theatre Royal, Birmingham, of  Pickwickians in three acts.  The featured actor was Mr. H. Hall in the role of Sam Weller’s father, Tony Weller.  In 1837 Hall had played the part of Tony Weller in Sam Weller, or the Pickwickians.  Mr. H. Webb, who was apparently a regular performer at the Theatre Royal, Birmingham, had the leading roles in two afterpieces on this playbill, The Christening, and Black Anna’s Bower!
