The Chimes, Dickens’s second Christmas book, was published in 1845.  It was not often dramatized; only a handful of performances were staged in the 1800’s.

An illustration from the first edition of The Chimes; the text reading in part: “Trotty [Veck] making Meg and Richard second couple, led off Mrs. Chickenstalker down the dance, and danced it in a step unknown before or since, founded on his own peculiar trot.”
