One of Dickensís final readings was given at St. James's Hall, London on January 25th, 1870.  Exhibited here is a ticket stub for this performance.  A highlight of this final reading was Sikes and Nancy, from Oliver Twist.  Dickens became so personally involved in repeatedly acting out the murder scene where Sikes bludgeons Nancy that he had to be helped from the stage, and often collapsed in his dressing room.
