Images from the pressbook for A Christmas Carol, presented by IBM on CBS TV, December 17, 1984.  This “Carol” starred George C. Scott as Scrooge.

Scott, having denounced the Hollywood academy awards as a “meaningless self-serving meat parade,” won the best actor award for Patton in 1970.  He refused to accept the Oscar.  Scott played other Dickensian roles on television, including Fagin in Oliver Twist.
