An image from a still photo of Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, in Walt Disney’s Mickey’s Christmas Carol, released in 1984.

Mickey Mouse had been featured in 118 cartoons between 1928 and 1953.  He was then absent from the screen because of the popularity of other Disney characters, principally Donald Duck.  His return in Mickey’s Christmas Carol was his first animated show in thirty years, and was aired on NBC TV.  Other Disney characters were in the cast, including Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, and of course, Uncle Scrooge McDuck.
