Bogarde acted in a wide range of roles, many of which were in less-well-known productions. He is remembered for his success in Death in Venice (1971).
Cecil Parker, who played Jarvis Lorry, first appeared on film in the 1929 production of Wilkie Collins’s The Woman in White.
The 1958 production of A Tale of Two Cities had mediocre reviews. The London Times said: “The result is a strange mixture of tableaux, only a few of which are truly moving.”
