Masterpiece Theater (PBS) produced a seven-part dramatization of Our Mutual Friend, made possible by a grant from Mobil Oil Corporation.  This series had a distinguished cast, including Jane Seymour as Bella Wilfer, Leo McKern as Mr. Boffin, and Alfie Bass as Silas Wegg.

Jane Seymour starred in a number of film and TV mini-series.  She also had her own dramatic series, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.  Leo McKern had important roles in a number of films, but is probably best remembered as Rumpole of The Bailey.  Alfie Bass played Mr. Goldberg in the British comedy series Are you Being Served?.  The first movie still shows actors and actresses from the Masterpiece Theater production of Our Mutual Friend: Leo McKern as Mr. Boffin, Jane Seymour as Bella Wilfer, and Alfie Bass as Silas Wegg.  Also shown is a photo of Polly James as Jennie Wren.  Wren is the crippled girl who earns her living making doll clothes in Our Mutual Friend.
